Director of Conservation & Community Engagement
Reporting Structure: Reports to the President and other leadership team members of Morgan Duke Conservation Society
Job Summary:
The Director of Conservation & Community Engagement is a key member of the leadership team at the Morgan Duke Conservation Society. This role involves reaching out to National Parks, State Parks, and other partners facing environmental challenges to establish partnerships. The Director will oversee environmental conservation, restoration, and stewardship activities, including data collection, report writing, and community engagement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee environmental, conservation, restoration, and stewardship activities
- Gather data collection sheets from Conservation Volunteers and create monthly reports
- Interact with volunteers to gather feedback for reports
- Write environmental, conservation, and reforestation content for the organization’s website
- Write donation and fundraising letters for business outreach
- Attend Zoom meetings with leadership team members, volunteers, and partners
- Educate the public on protecting state parks, lands, and lakes
- Promote leave no trace principles
Qualifications:
- Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and set own schedule
- Experience with Microsoft Word and email
This is a volunteer position with the Morgan Duke Conservation Society, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization. The Director of Conservation & Community Engagement will report to the President and have access to a volunteer portal.
